1. Force: This is the actual or threatened use of coercion to impose one’s will on others. For example a leader can apply force to imprison or execute a political dissident. Terrorists also apply force when they seize or bomb an embassy.
2. Influence: this refer to the use of power through a process of persuasion. This is the power that comes from wealth, social status or position
3. Authority: This is the power or right to enforce rules and give orders. Authority is the power that has been institutionalized and is recognized by the people over whom it is exercised.
Types of Authority:
There are three basic types of authority.
1. Traditional Authority: this type of authority is conferred by custom and accepted practice. For Example a king or queen is accepted as the ruler of a nation simply by virtue of inheriting the crown.
2. Legal Rational Authority: This is the authority given to the president or prime minister to make and enforce laws and policies.
3. Charismatic Authority: This refers to the power by a leader’s exceptional personal or emotional appeal to his or her followers. It is the possession of great charm or influence. Charisma is a divine gift which is divinely bestowed.

Occupation influences our social behavior in a number of ways. As part of the socialization process, people prepare for work. Our occupation also determines our position (status) in the society.

An industry refers to the activity that many people are involved in especially for commercial purpose.
It is an organized economic activity connected with the production, manufacture, rending of services or construction of a particular product or range of products.

Manufacturing Industry refers only to those activities which change the state (conditions) of raw materials into something more useful and valuable.

Culture and Health.
Culture influences the differences in medical care as well as how health is defined. For example, in African culture, the fat and plump person is viewed as wealthy and good looking and slim person is considered sick and lack of food. But in Western or Asian culture, a slim person is typically viewed as youthful, healthy and beautiful whereas, a fat person is viewed as ugly and lacking in self-discipline.
Culture can also influence the relative incidence of a disease or disorder. Some diseases are connected to the meanings of particular cultures. The term culture-bound syndrome refers to a disease or illness that cannot be understood apart from its specific social context.
